Bye bye pacifier!

We are sooooo lucky to have such an easy going toddler. We had been dreading taking away his pacifier (even though he was only allowed to have it in his crib for sleeping) because of all the horror stories we had heard about breaking the attachment. We didn't want to take it away too soon and have him start sucking his thumb (which has happened to a couple people we know).

Yesterday evening we cut off the end of all three of his pacifiers. Once he saw that they were "all broke", found out daddy couldn't "fix" them and that we couldn't buy anymore from the store (all very good questions on his part), he seemed to accept it. He occasionally would mention that his pacifiers were "all broke" but never cried or fussed about it. We did everything in his usual bedtime routine the same (except giving him his paci of course). He went to sleep last night without a peep, didn't wake at all during the night (at least he didn't fuss if he did), slept in until 8:35 this morning, had no trouble going down for his nap today and went right to sleep again tonight without a peep!!!! What the heck!

I don't know what we did to deserve such an easy going kid but I pray to god Dylan doesn't make up for it by having a nasty "terrible threes" stage. Hopefully we haven't jinxed anything by celebrating to soon!
